Can there be less units in the front rank of a group than found in subsequent ranks.
To take the example on page 10 if E2 was say in front of D1 would D1, E2 and E1 still be a group.

So Cataphracts and Pike are only unmanoeuvrable when it comes to turning (page 32) but not for instance when it comes to Contractions, Expansions or Disengaging.

Good point, I an not find it in the rules but the Reference Sheet states 2 CP if unit is in Melee. However reading the shooting rules implies that a supporting unit is not in Melee.

Thanks page 51 is indeed a font of knowledge.
So one would first have to spend two points to edge forward, then next turn two points to swing around to benefit from all the nasties!
