|
Salutations, gentlefolk,
On p.13 of the rules, it says "Non-impetuous medium swordsmen cancel the impact ability of impetuous infantry if... ",
but "Non-impetuous heavy swordsmen cancel the impact ability of impetuous foot units if they receive the charge on their front edge. "
Is there a reason for differentiating 'infantry' and 'foot units' here, or should the two be considered equivalent ?
Thanks, very much, for your help with this. |

The two terms should be equivalent. The different wording probably arose whilst translating the original document from french to english.

In French version, page 13 "piétons impétueux" for MI and "piétons impétueux" for HI.
So basically foot units for both, and the translator took synonymes... _________________ Audentes fortuna iuvat. |

Très intéressant!
Does the French language have a specific term for infantry e.g. infanterie? |

It just doesn’t really quite work like that... from what I remember of the process, the French has words and phrases for the troop types which don’t always break down into the same linguistic components (?) as the English equivalents _________________ www.madaxeman.com |

Merci beaucoup, and, Thanks, very much,
You've verified my first conclusion - though, a few minutes later, it occured to me that levy units might be 'foot units' but not 'infantry'.
Anyway, the reason this came up is that I'm using my 'new leisure' to compile 'just the rules' for LADG - to have a basic playing reference without the historical notes, pictures, examples, etc. I'm about half-through it, .doc file, should be about 36 pages of 12-point type.
Would appreciate comments, corrections, notes of stuf I've misinterpreted or missed. Please drop me a message, will zap you a copy when draft is done.
