Apologies if I'm missing something here but on p.9 a unit is deemed to be 'on the flank' if it has at least part of its base in the flank or rear and no part in the front. In the next para is says a unit is deemed to be 'on the rear' if it has at least part of it's base in the rear? As it reads having part of a base in the rear is qualification for for both being on the flank and the rear? Is there a word or two missing somewhere? Trying to determine what the difference is that determines a unit is 'on the rear' vs on the flank. Is it the case that to be on the flank the greater proportion of the base must be on the flank as opposed to on the rear. That would seem to make sense but that's not what the rules say. |

Update: Having read on a bit further there's a diagram on p.41 that explains it much better than p.9. Maybe I'm missing something different that is being explained on p.9 but I actually found p.9 quite confusing on the flank / rear issue.
I did try to edit the post above numerous times but each time I hit 'Submit' nothing happened, just brought me back to the editing page. |

Having got the answer via DM, seems that the section on p.9 is merely more of an explanation of terms, it's not the case in this context that a unit has to be on the flank OR on the rear, it's just explaining what it needs to do to qualify as either (at least I think). |

Diag p 41 gives several example of Flank/rear
I guess you can find the explanation here. |

Thanks Herve, yes, as mentioned in the original post, it wasn't page 41 that was confusing me, it was the explanation on p.9 where 'being in the rear' can qualify you as being on the flank or the rear. I think it's the case that p.9 merely explains some terms and p.41 actually explains flank / rear for charge purposes.
Very impressed with v4 |
