When a unit finds itself in a supporting position on one flank, but in non-melee contact, ex: corner to corner or flank to flank, with another enemy, may it conform to that enemy? In other words does that fact that it can offer support preclude it from conforming into melee? |

Yes, it can conform. But the move has to be paid for. |

Not quite Alan.
While the units are deemed to be in corner-to-corner contact, the phasing unit is also deemed to be in front of the enemy and slightly to one side. Consequently it does not get a "spontaneous charge" (since the enemy is not in it's ZoC), while it will conform to the front edge of the enemy.
However, Conformation is always free. |

Ramses, I assumed that a friendly unit was already in frontal contact with the enemy as the question concerns a unit in a support position. |

Just to clarify, I intended:
After some melee, Unit A is supporting B but in corner to corner (or more urgently flank to flank) contact with unit 1
R II has already shared an official answer on the other thread that Unit A can choose to conform to unit 1 and leave its supporting position (provided it has not moved - charged - into its current position). |
