I never roll a six a écrit:
I have always assumed that where both sides have flank marches on the same side of the table, the smaller flank march automatically arrives on Turn 2 and the larger's automatically arrives on turn 3.

Otherwise, what would happen if Larger (call it Red) rolls low numbers each turn, but meanwhile smaller (Blue) rolls a 5 or 6. Is the move onto the table in successive turns triggered when the first of the two flank marches rolls a 5/6 to arrive on table?

Yes. It doesn’t matter who is larger. Each side rolls as per normal. When either gets an arrival roll their size is compared to the enemy and the smaller one arrives in its next player turn.

The odd effect of this is that opposed flank matches arrive much quicker than unopposed ones - which just seems wrong!

IMO the rule should be that after BOTH sides have gotten a result indicating an arrival (or maybe after there have been two successful arrival rolls between the two players), the smaller one gets driven back, etc. This would allow for a smaller delaying force engaging the larger enemy FM off table and delaying it for some time before it is driven back. IMO this would be better than a perverse rule that sending a force to delay the enemy FM just makes the enemy arrive quicker. (Maybe you could have a rule that if the larger force is 3x (or 4x?) the smaller, then the smaller force is just destroyed instead of being driven back.)

While on the subject, could someone explain to me:
(page 80) Units of a repulsed flank march who approach within 4 UD of an enemy become Disordered.

I thought Disordered was equivalent to have 1 or more cohesion point losses - is this equivalent to saying they lose a cohesion point?

They lose their first cohesion point. Since they are new to the game they should be fresh prior to taking this hit. I suppose if for some odd reason they hyphae already lost a cohesion point they would not take any additional cohesion hits for this.

I've been reading through the questions and have a note on this.

Player A successfully rolls for a flank march at the beginning of their turn. They announce which flank the march will arrive.
Player B also has a march on that flank. They should not announce this until the end of A's turn. Otherwise, if it's determined than B's flank march is victorious, A will have two turns to prepare a defense.
