Good evening everybody
A group of 3 light infantry "A", "B" and "C" are in clear field.
Units "A" and "B" located to the left and center of the line, have an enemy unit "X" of LH located in their rear with his left flank a few millimeters from the rear of "A" and "B". ("X" does not do ZOC on them.)
Another unit, ("Y"), on the side of "X" is located on the flank of the LI group and he is charge distance to "A".
"A" and "B" cannot make a quarter-turn movement without stepping on "X".
Can "A" (and the group) make an evasion move?
Points 1 and 2 on pages 47 and 48 do not establish this situation as blocked evasion
Thank you for your comments

The first line of the preamble on page 47 says: Citation: | An evading unit may be blocked by something that prevents evade movement. |
It doesn't say the 2 following cases are the exclusive possibilities. Looks to me like X blocks the evade. |

So, your point is,
The units that need to evade cannot make a legal quarter turn to reorient themselves.
This is why El Kreator wanted all units on square bases to avoid this geometry.
On its face p 47: #2
"Evading unit may be blocked by something that prevents evade movement."
You have posed a situation where evade movement may be prevented.
The counter is #3 could be considered to allow a slide. Which is not strictly what it is talking about here.
I would add to the section that applies the rules on quarter turn which also don't directly, but implicitly do mention blocked.
I could see an umpire ruling that the unit could partially slide as part of the re-orientation because the original intent was not to create these situations.
However, I think the rules are somewhat clear the reorientation is blocked and therefore no evade move is possible.
We will get this clarified for certain. But that is what i think now. |

I am not sure how to play this situation.
Because the evade move is not blocked
In fact only the reorientation is blocked |

Confirmed:
Re-orientation if blocked, then evade is not possible. |
