Starting position - A belongs to one player, B & C to the other
A facing down the page, B and C facing up the page (ie A and B in corner to corner contact, C on A's flank but some distance away)
A..C
.B
Outcome a)
A facing down the page, B and C facing left (ie C has charged A's flank, B providing simple support)
AC
.B
Outcome b)
A facing down the page, B facing up and C facing left (ie B in contact with A's front, C providing melee support)
AC
B.
In the combats just completed, unit A and unit B each killed their opponents and it is now the turn of the player owning units B & C.
C moves first and charges A in the flank. Can B conform to the position shown in a) without spending a CP?
(Yes, it’s understood that B must conform or move away and that if B conformed before C’s charge it would conform to the position shown in b) without spending any CP.) |

So we are in agreement B must conform.
There are two legal conforming moves. There is no rule requirement on priority. Therefore owning player's choice.
This is the same essentially as X faces down and M faces up. O died in previous turn and now M moves and must conform left or quarter turn right. It is the owning players choice.

Your answer is very interesting Dan.
Using your example there is possibly a difference between the two conformations.
In a sole corner to corner conformation, like M and X upper left, M would also obviously have the option to move away
Is this also the case with the enemy in front edge contact, like M and X lower right?
Can M choose to exit the enemy ZOC using the page 37 procedure? |

So in my example no one was in anyone's ZOC.
And the OP stated they understood move away was also an option.
So moving away is an option. Not exiting a ZOC as no one is in a ZOC |

Sorry Dan - I took it that the X at the upper left was facing down but the X at the lower right was in front edge contact with M. Facing left. |
