Registration: Final inclusion in the tournament is subject to meeting the following two requirements within the specified deadlines:
1: Payment of the registration fee. Only players who make the payment within the specified timeframe will be included in the tournament. The registration period opens on 15 August 2026. The deadline is 20 October 2026 (23:59).
2: Submission of team line-ups. These must be sent to strategiturdetani@gmail.com by 15 November 2026 at 23:59.
Send an email to strategiturdetani@gmail.com stating your ADLG ID, your full name and the club you belong to. You will receive a reply to this email with the bank account number, PayPal or Bizum details to pay the registration fee.
Registration fee: €30 if paid before 30 September 2026, including the right to table veto. From 30 September, €35.
Places: There are 30 places available (we cannot guarantee that the venue has capacity for more, although we will try).
Scale: Armies will be played with 15 mm miniatures, according to the official rules for this scale. Miniatures must accurately represent the type of troop to which they are assigned, and the army must be fully painted.
Rules: Version V4 of “Art De La Guerre†will apply, including the latest official publication, as well as the clarifications and amendments set out in the most recent FAQs. This information can be found on the website: ADLG - Art De La Guerre.
Scoring: Players will be ranked according to the victory points shown on the Excel spreadsheet available for download from the game’s official website.
Duration: Games will last 2 hours and 30 minutes, with a minimum of 7 turns per player. The game will continue beyond those 7 turns if there is still time remaining.
Players will have a chess clock with 45 minutes per player, which will count down during the movement phase. During the resolution of shooting and combat, the clock will be paused. (It may also be paused by mutual agreement between the players or at the referee’s instruction).
The use of a clock is mandatory if either player requests it.
Once a player has used up their 45 minutes, they will begin making Blitz moves with 99 seconds per move, provided the minimum of 7 turns has not been reached.
Fifteen minutes before the end of the game time, it will be determined whether the defender can play their final move. If so, both players will have one turn (attacker-defender) to finish the game, which will be played in blitz mode (99 seconds per move, unless, when using a clock, one player still has time left on their clock, in which case that player will not enter blitz mode). If at least 7 moves have been played and both players agree not to play blitz, the game may end at that point.
In any case, if at this stage the defender is unable to play a final move, the game will end at that point.
The referee shall have the authority to stop the game in its current state once 2 hours and 30 minutes have elapsed. All players shall ensure that game time limits are adhered to so as not to disrupt the smooth running of the tournament.
Eligible armies: Lists of no more than 200 points are permitted, in accordance with version V4 of the L'Art de la Guerre rules, including those already listed with their allies. Both the main list and the ally must be included in the lists permitted for the tournament. The list submitted to the organisers must clearly state the year of the list and which command the Commander-in-Chief is in. If there is an allied contingent, it must be valid for the same year as that stated on the main list.
Pre-set tables: Games will be played on pre-set tables, which will be published well in advance so that all players are aware of them. The terrain elements on these tables may not be altered or moved.
At the start of each round, the table at which each pair of players will play will be allocated by draw, with the highest-ranked players choosing first (in the first round, the order will be based on the ELO rating of the pair’s best player).
At the start of the game, the players will determine who has the initiative, in accordance with the rules. The player who wins the initiative will choose which side of the table to play from and whether to be the attacker or the defender.
Table veto: Players who have completed their registration by 30 September may rule out one of the tables, ensuring that they will not play any of their matches at the chosen table. The ruled-out table must be communicated to the organisers by sending an email to strategiturdetani@gmail.com
Rounds: Three rounds will be played on Saturday and two on Sunday morning, with matches between players from the same club avoided wherever possible. The first pairing will be random or determined by a challenge system. The remaining pairings will be decided using the Swiss system, avoiding matches between players who have already played each other.
In the final round, players from the same club may play each other only if the match could determine podium places.
Challenges: To play the first round, a player is permitted to issue a challenge to another player. In this case, if the challenged player accepts, this match will be recorded as part of the first round. In the event of multiple challenges, the first one to be accepted will be taken into account. To safeguard the mental health of the organisers, once a challenge has been accepted, no changes will be permitted. The deadline for issuing challenges is 10 November 2025.
Once a challenge has been agreed, players must make it public and notify the tournament organisers.
Challenges between players from the same club will not be permitted.
Mats and terrain pieces: Leave them at home; come to the table ready to play.
Dice: Only dice provided by the organisers may be used. If both players agree, the optional 3D6 rule (page 83 of the rules) may be used.
