Sorry another beginner question, most of the basics am happy with but could someone go through the basic factors at contact for Heavy Cavalry vs Medium Spearmen and Heavy Cavalry with Impact vs Medium Spearmen, thank you

AND ONE MORE TIME, BUT IN FRENGLISH
the usual case is cavalrycharging MI

1)heavy cav again spearmen
:
Cav + 1 FACTOR AGAIN MI
+1 EXTRA FACTOR AGAIN MI AS HAVING NOT IMPACT
MI +1 FACTOR AGAIN mounted
+1 extra factor as having impact again mounted charging

so 2/2 no adventage, new dices!
2) heavy cav impact again MI lancer, a socerfull of fly's ass fucking, almost as a english rule!
Cav had +1 base factor again MI
He had no more extra +1 factor, has having Impact
But, cherry on the cake, He doesn't have +1 impact bonus as is canceled by MI lancer.
MI Lancer ( may i tranlate by half lancer?) has +1 factor again CV
He can't benefits of impact, as it doen't use again mounted having impact.
So 1/1 no adventage, and so on....

Note medium and heavy cav had same factors, the only difference is armor.

For 2)
I thought it would be:


Heavy cavalry base +1 vs MI
Impact (cancelled by spearmen)
= +1

Spearmen base +1 vs Cav
Impact vs mounted +1 (allowed because mounted impact has been cancelled)
= +2

If the cavalry lose +1 for armour
If the cavalry win they count furious charge and inflict one additional hit

Oh my! maybe it makes more sense in French but I have to be honest and say I really do not undertstand Herve's reply at all..

Reading though from page 13-14 of the English rules:

"Medium Spearmen... cancel the impact of mounted if they receive the charge on their front edge"

"Heavy Spearmen... [gain] impact when they face mounted other than elephant ... in addition they cancel the impact of mounted if they receive the charge on their front edge"

So the rulebook is correct but the quick play sheet is wrong!

MEDIUM SPEARMAN HAS IMPACT VS MOUNTED TROOPS.
ONLY HVY SPEARMEN AND PHALANX KEEPS THEIR IPACT VS IMPACT CV (page 17 french rules).

Exemples :
Lancier moyen chargé par une Cv normale :
Lancier moyen = 1 + 1 d’impact soit +2
La Cv a 1 + 1 de bonus contre MI soit +2
EXAMPLES:
MEDIUM SPERMAN CHARGED BY NORMAL CV
SPEAR : 1 +1 impact = +2
CV : 1 + 1 vs MI = +2

Chargé par de la Cv impact
Lancier moyen = 1 + 0 (il ne conserve pas son impact) = +1
Cv impact = 1 + 0 (car impact annulé par lancier) = +1
CHARGED BY IMPACT CV
MED SPEAR = 1 + 0 (NO MORE IMPACT) = +1
CV IMP = 1 + 0 (IMP CANCELED BY SPEARMAN) = +1

Autre point :
La Cv impact qui charge des lanciers moyens perd son impact mais ne récupère pas le bonus de +1 au 1er tour contre les moyens
IMP CV CHARGING MED SPEARMEN LOOSE IMP BUT DO NOT GET ITS +1 VS MEDIUM TROOPS.

The problem seems to be the quick play sheet, as the rulebook is clear but does not match the sheet.


Medium spear do not receive impact versus cavalry
Heavy spear and pike do receive impact
All three types cancel impact of mounted troops

When impact cavalry charge medium spear the cavalry impact is cancelled however does this mean they no longer get furious charge?

P58 has Heavy/medium swords that cancel impetuous impact doesn't cancel furious charge. Is it the same for cavalry?

Yes, the cavalry in this case still gets furious charge.
