|
Is it possible for a unit which supports another unit in a melee by being beside the unit it supports and in corner to corner contact with the enemy unit, to lap onto the flank of the enemy unit by wheeling forward or advancing and turning; without it's being classified as a charge? As the move does not start from (at least partly) behind the enemy unit's front line, then it cannot be a valid flank charge. So, is a move into a flank contact permitted ~(without a charge)? |

Don't bother; it's clear on pages 36 (charge) and 59 (multiple contacts); Yes |

I am not sure where you get your answer.
Two units perfectly side by side fighting one unit
1
AB
If you are suggesting B can wheel (or otherwise move) so that it is on the flank of 1 with its front edge, then no. Page 51, Flank Contact. |

Hazelbark - thanks. I like your interpretation. It's clear and simple (and has a less gimmicky feel to me).
The confusion stems from other players I have been involved with who refer to page 59 'Multiple Opponents' discussion second para. as permitting such lapping around onto a flank using a simple wheel or advance and quarter turn (and not a charge).
I hope you're right. |

To contact a flank, a unit must have her front at least partly behind the front of the ennemy.
So, B is only corner to corner and can't take the flank. B must, in a turn, made a advance and so can take the flank at the following turn. _________________ "Quand on a pas de technique, faut y aller à la zob"

Excuse me for m'y bad english. If B is on the same line with À, you can't wheel and contact ennemy opposent. If you want make this, you should advance B a little bit on your turn, and the turn after you can. It's simply, if you want contact an ennemy on the flank, you must have past his frontline before. I dont know if im clear, with my bad langage. |

Well the good news is I am 100% right.
In the paragraph you will note the word "on its flank or rear edge". A corner is not an edge. |
