Posté le: Jeu Juil 21, 2016 4:52 pm Sujet du message: Bowmen charging light horse |
|
Can someone confirm that bowmen charging light horse get the +1 for the first round of melee against mounted opponents (in addition to the +1 that they always get in melee against light horse)?
I cannot see anything in the rules that says the bowmen lose this first-round bonus because they are charging (as would be the case with, say, medium spearmen that have the missile-support capability. But I could well have missed something.
Thanks in advance. |

I did not found any reference about charging or not charging condition for the bowmen +1 against mounted.
It only exist for support bonus (p18).
The support para says in note that bowmen do not apply support bonus because they have a specific bonus against mounted units on first turn.
According to this, my opinion is that a bowmen charging a LH get its +1 bonus on first turn. _________________ "Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead"

Error, Commodore.
it is stated in the FAQ that the +1 bonus for bower vs mounted is only if they receive the charge on their front. As it represents a defensive (and close range) firing, it cant be used if they charge a LH. _________________ Audentes fortuna iuvat. |

On page 37 of the rules in the English version under Melee after a charge, the rule provides that units receive the benefit of certain capabilities which only apply in the first phase of the melee. The note on page 18 does not clarify the issue very much. The FAQ language is not very clear either.
On page 235 of the English version, the rules say "bowmen now have a +1 for the first phase of melee against mounted units."
So, once and for all, do bowmen get to add +1 to their melee factor if they charge mounted? |

Fortunately, there are a lot of pictures. I mostly only look at the pictures of the pretty little toys. Reading the whole book would require a huge commitment of my spare bathroom time.
Thank you for the speedy response. |

The FAQ says "The bonus is valid only for the 1st turn if the unit is charged from the front." I don't see what is unclear about that? |

I would delete my snarky response to footslogger if I knew how. It was a knee jerk post that I regret. All I could figure out how to do was to edit it by replacing it with a non-sequitur. Footslogger has my apologies. I need to wait a bit before turning the flames on in a post on the internet. I freely confess to being an ill mannered doofus.
