I'm just planning on building list 63. I was wondering whether the later Thracians with 2HW would normally be run in a unit of 6 or 8 figures?

I try to base 8 figures per base for MI and 6 per base for javelin men and bowmen. That way it is easy for both sides to see who is what just by looking.

However, page 7 of the rules permits either 6 or 8 per base for MI and makes no provision for javelin men or bowmen.

Use 12 figures and claim they are using captured Hellenistic pikes but cost like Thracian mi with a base factor of 2 plus a 2hw.😼

I often use koenigs tiger models for Byzantine cavalry. Had to use 10
Mm figures to get three per base. My opponents run away
like gazelle

Thanks for the help - I'll probably go with 6, but have the javelinmen with a small pelta, and the 2HW types with the large oval shield.

I use my figures that have done for DBA, DBM, FOG, and put one base behind the other to make an ALDG unit. I suggest if you want to avoid rebasing if you try other rules in the future you do the same.

For armies with all of Medium Sword, Medium Spear, and Javelinmen I use 6 per unit and figures/bases that look different.

The old legacy basing from other rule sets had 6 for irregulars 8 for regulars, at least for the peltast types. The old WRG definition of Medium infantry now seems to be basic HI with no armour.
