|
Hi all
On P27: a unit/group moving its Full movement distance along road in a column ignores terrain movement penalties and can add up to 1UD to its move distance if it wishes.
Does the "full" mean the unit/group must make a full length road move or that all of its move, however long, must be along road? Or to paraphrase, can it road move shorter than its usual open terrain full move without penalty (unless unmanouverable, of course)
This does have implications for units using roads to get through terrain in proximity to enemy.
Also I presume that whatever the answer to that might be, the unit can make a second or third move off or partially off the road subsequently in the same movement phase if unrestricted by nearby enemy?
Cheers

If your unit starts on a road and intends only to move along that road, the maximum movement distance it may travel is the open terrain distance plus 1UD.
If the unit only wants to travel a short distance along the road (i.e. less than its open terrain distance) then the bonus 1UD is irrelevant.
If the unit moves off the road in a second or third move then the bonus 1UD is irrelevant for that second or third move.
The 1UD bonus applies to each and every move entirely along the road. |

There is no requirement on a road to move 100% of the move available. It is an option. |

Thanks both.
Might be worth using the phrase “entirely along†if the rules get a redraft?
