|
From the amendments:
Citation: | A unit is in charge range if the following two points are true :
The distance between the 2 closest points of the units
is less than or equal to the movement capacity of the
charging unit;
The charging unit can perform a move that contacts
the target unit
o If the move includes a wheel, ¼ turn or ½
turn, its movement capacity is reduced
accordingly
o If the move includes a slide, its movement
capacity is not reduced |
This question relates to the meaning of movement capacity in the above rule.
A unit of knights is 2.25 UD away from a unit it wants to charge. That 2.25 UD is entirely through open terrain.
It cannot charge by a wheel or a simple advance because that would mean passing through another enemy unit's ZOC.
If it slides before charging it will avoid the ZOC, but it will pass through a corner of rough terrain reducing it's movement to 2 UD.
However, because of the way the units are set up the slide will put it within 2 UD of the target.
This might sound like an unlikely event, but it actually happened in Pamplona a couple of weeks ago.
So the question is:
Can the knights charge? _________________ Putting the ink into incompetence |

So I believe since the only legal method of contact is through rough, you adjudicate it all as if your speed was that in rough 2 UD.
I think you are saying the only way you get into 2 UD is to slide first. But before you slide the first bullet is operative at a 2 UD limit. |

Have to agree with Hazelbark here. Parsing the rule we get - The initial question whether the distance between the units permits a charge to take place. In this case I suggest it should be measured around the intervening ZoC, forcing the measurement through the terrain and reducing the movement capacity to 2UD
- The ‘Red herring’ about no reduction in movement capacity in a slide, which actually refers to the  movement reduction caused by a turn or wheel.

That makes sense.
