I found a discrepancy when comparing the rules for Wheel and Contraction in English version of the rules.
Wheel, page 29, left column, 4th bullet :
A wheel cannot be performed during an extension or contraction manoeuvre
Contraction, page 31, left column, first paragraph :
The advance can include a wheel of the front units but cannot include a slide.
Which is confirmed on right column of same page, among restrictions, 2nd bullet :
A contraction cannot be combined with a slide, a quarter-turn, a half-turn or an extension
In French V2 version, Wheel and Contraction were clearly incompatible in the text, so I guess it had been added in V3.
Could you confirm which interpretation is correct ?
And if wheeling is really permitted during contraction, I think it would be useful to elaborate a bit more with an example in the next version of FAQ document. _________________ "Nous sommes la Team Rocket, plus rapides que la lumière ! IMHO, the pivot restriction is a survivance of V2 that as not been eliminated.
Extension and contraction are two different manœuvrer.
Extension: the rear units will align with the front units to form a lign. since the front units doesn't move, the pivot is not authorized.
Contraction: one unit move and the others follow to form a column behind this first unit. Since the front unit moves, there can be a pivot. The limits of pivot still aplies ( no more than 90° and no unit may move more than it's UD allowance) _________________ Audentes fortuna iuvat. |

OK merci
I didn't see a lot of contractions (or any) in my tournament practice but it's good to know anyway _________________ "Nous sommes la Team Rocket, plus rapides que la lumière ! Rendez-vous tous ou ce sera la guerre, guerre, guerre !" "Miaouss oui l'art de la guerre !" ( Pokemon.) |

Contraction is mostly used to pass between 2 terrains (risky if the ennemy is close, cause you end in column) and in evade move to allow a group to pass trough a 1 UD gap between your troops (risky too cause the last unit may be contacted by the pursuier) _________________ Audentes fortuna iuvat. |
