|
A group of three impetuous Cavalry units in line, C1, C2 and C3 declares a charge.
The end unit C1 contacts an enemy front edge to front edge and the group slides to conform. Because of other units fighting obstructing the conformation the group is not able to completely conform and so will fight as per page 54 "unable to conform" with only part of C1's front edge in contact and it is the part away from the rest of the line of units.
The unit next to it, C2, is is a valid support position per page 50. However it is not "in contact" with the enemy unit as it would be if the conformation were complete when it would be in corner to corner contact.
Page 36 "Continuing a charge" specifies that Continuing a charge is mandatory for impetuous units if they are not in contact with the enemy.
Is C2 required (or allowed) to leave the support position as it is not in contact? Or should it be considered to be in contact as the group has conformed as much as possible and the following turn the enemy unit will slide to conform to place it in corner to corner contact?
C3 will of course have to continue the charge. |

Yes, C2 will be considered "in contact" since it would have been in contact if the units could have conformed normally. _________________ Audentes fortuna iuvat. |
