I agree with the following :
Ramses II a écrit: | I have to agree with Mike.Â
- The charging units that will make contact do so, conforming as required.
- Other units in the group move as part of the group until contact is made. Then;
- If the group has moved the minimum movement distance, the other units in the group may stop unless they are impetuous.
- If the group has not moved its minimum distance, then yes, the other units have have to do so. Â
[/list] |
Note :
- This apply only in bullet 6 : All initial targets evade
- Units in support of the contacting unit stop their move when enemy is contacted, even if they don't advance 1/2 UD |

Hi Herve
Thanks, it is clear for units in support. The outstanding query is then about what is your intention for units in a wider charging group that do not end up in a support position after any conformation.
The English rules seems to say that most of "6 - If all initial targets evade" (correction, not BP 6 alone) still applies, making impetuous troops move full distance and others at least the minimum 1/ 2 UD?
7 if not all targets evade
…
Any units that do not contact the enemy must advance, following the rules set out in point 6, other than that their movement allowance is not adjustedâ€
Ps if the intention is that they advance do they conform with the group first or advance straight ahead in the initial charge direction?

All Initial targets Evade | Bullet point 6 only deals with impetuous units. _________________ Martin Stephenson

My bad, poor referance i should not have said BP6 alone. Herve quotes the entirety of section 6 6 - If all initial targets evade", so all 7 bullet points, apart from bp1 distance adjustment seem to apply.[/b] |

How do you get from:
Citation: | - This apply only in bullet 6 : All initial targets evade |
To
Citation: | Herve quotes the entirety of section 6 |

I read that “BP6 - All initial targets evade†refers to the entire section 6 as per the title quoted. I concede an alternative reading that it is just one BP6 within it. For consistency the rules themselves in section 7 use the entire section 6. |

Careful. Using the written rules to suport an interpretation of a clarification is a circular arguement. _________________ Martin Stephenson

I can't see how specifying one bullet point can be taken to refer to the whole section. Especially as the bullet point is mentioned first. _________________ Martin Stephenson

As I read it, if any of your initial targets evade, then the unengaged portion of the charging group must "chase", that is move at least 1|2UD to make it look like a legit threat.
(And as Gavin stated in another thread, this applied to secondary targets who evade if you choose to continue the charge.) |

Yes you are right
BP5 apply only if no target evade
In this case, the entire group can stop when the first contact is made
There is no need to advance at least 1/2 UD
Then you go to BP8 - Pursuit of the charge
Unit not in contact with enemy can choose to continue their move
Impetuous must do it only if it allow them to contact another ennemy
BP6 apply if all target evade
In this case the unit must advance at least 1/2 UD
BP7 apply when some target evade
Unit in the group that do not contact ennemy must advance 1/2 UD
BP8 apply in all case after first contact have been made

Just to add to what Herve wrote as I know people just from one thing to another.
For impetuous units only:
BP 5 if all targets evade impetuous must move full. (BP5 continued in BP 8 )
BP 8 If not all targets evade, then impetuous troops must move full if they can contact.
Impetuous troops may choose not to go their full move, if they cannot contact and enemy and they are not chasing evaders.
Example: a long line of impetuous charge and only part contact. See below
123456
A
1 must contact and 2 as well as it is in support. The remaining units having no other target may choose not to move their full distance even if impetuous. |
