Yeah I muffed that a bit.
The evading unit must have more than 1UD left (otherwise it has no need of wheeling) and less than 1.5UD (which will bring it a full 90 degrees and perpendicular).
Hitting the flank will be outside of the ZoC, but usually not creating a lot of exposure. Hitting the rear, which I believe is always a choice, will, IIUC, be a partial conformation because of the special case rules, and likewise not creating a lot of exposure. |

Conforming to the evaders rear will create a lot of exposure. It will leave the charger flank-on to a formed unit which is never good. |

Full conformation yes, but I suggest that you cannot displace within the "obstacle" unit's ZoC which becomes the MTE the instance you enter it. The charger has one point of contact on the evader and another on the obstacle ZoC in partial conformation and therefore is more or less square to the enemy.
Furthermore, you then have the opportunity to pursue 1UD forward without restriction, and then conform, which will lock down the opposition.
This is all concerning LI which will auto-rout. It's unclear when ZoC extend through other types .

I thought evading units were exempt from any ZoC restrictions?
But I might be wrong of course _________________ 'He could have lived a risk-free, moneyed life, but he preferred to whittle away his fortune on warfare.' Xenophon, The Anabasis |
