So I had an interesting case come up today.
A commander was attached to a unit and engaged in melee. The unit was destroyed.
The commander then fled to the unit immediately adjacent. Which was also in combat but had yet to roll.
Page 28 3rd bullet says the commander is eliminated on a roll of 1, 2 or 3.
4th bullet says this roll is made once per turn, in the Rout/Pursuit phase after all melee.
Page 27 says that once attached the commander must remain with the unit until the end of the game-turn or the melee if engaged.
My opponent, with understandable calculation, figured the commander had the sword of Damocles hanging over his head and so wanted to engage in melee with the second unit as well.
Seems wrong to get to add two +1s in a single turn but....
(I let him do it, the unit he was with was mediocre after all. The second unit was not destroyed and the commander survived his roll) |

Don't have my rules with me, but I believe nothing is removed until all combats are resolved. So only once per turn. |

Thank you Ethan, that works.
Page 68 says that routs and pursuits are conducted at the end of the players sequence at the end of all combats.
We're so used to pulling them as we go that I got mixed up.
Interestingly that would apply to losses from shooting as well |

P28 commander in combat is the key here.Â
When a unit loses a cohesion point, we tend to dice immediately for the commander but it is more correct to wait until after all melees are complete, so the commander only moves once if he survives.Â
Note, the commander only dices once per turn even if there were several cohesion loses |
