Peter's Peasant Pilgrims Parade in Palermo
It is round 1 of the Early Medieval themed L’ Art de la Guerre event at Historicon.
The borrowed Camels have been put back in their sandbox, it is now time to bring out the Kingdom of Sicily.
Sicily was an independent (ish) kingdom first ruled by Normans, then inherited by the German emperor, then by the French (politics), then truly independent after a revolt by the natives with help from the Spanish city of Aragon.
My first opponent is the “Early Crusadeâ€. Just before the Crusades formally started, like with real armies, commanded by real kings, a vast horde of peasants was led to the holy lands by a prophet.

Spoilers! The Peasant Crusade didn’t make it to the holy lands. This scenario assumes they took a more southern route.

A hard fought battle!
I expected the Almughavars to do better though. |
