Suppose LI is interpenetrating a friendly unit (A) diagonally (at say 45 degrees) from the left-rear to front and has enough movement to get its front corner through but does not have enough movement to make it all the way through. So now, per the 1st bullet on the right of p 39, the LI is “advanced the minimum distance necessary to cross the friendly unitâ€.
Does to (1) maintain its diagonal direction of movement and continue straight ahead until its right rear corner is just touching the front of the friendly unit (A below) it interpenetrated end up at an angle in front of the unit it interpenetrated or (2) does it adopt the same facing as the unit it just interpenetrated as this will result in all points of the unit moving less than the distance in (1)?

2 because the right corner is moving the same distance but the left is moving less. But do you change direction faced if this reduces the distance traveled? |

As Dickstick notes, the LI may advance the minimum needed to clear the other unit. See interpénétration Citation: | If the unit passing through is light troops or a non-included commander, it is advanced the minimum distance necessary to fully cross the friendly unit. |
