This post covers the general details for the Northern League 2025. I will create separate posts in the ADLG Forum and Facebook Group for each round. We are still finalising details for some of the later rounds and I’ll update this post as details are confirmed.

The Northern League is a series of 5 one day competitions. Each is a separate event, so players may enter as many or few events as they wish. However, there is also an overall championship, for which each player's best 4 scores are counted. The cost of each round is £5 per player. This is a Singles competition, but players may enter as a pair if they wish.

The five rounds of the Northern League this year will be as follows:

Round 1. Sunday 9th of March 2025 at

Players to arrive at 09:00 am for a 9:30 start to the games.
Theme: Classical and Roman 500 BC – 492 AD.

Round 2. 18th May 2025, at:
Magdalene Centre,
Catherine Street
Winton, Eccles,
Greater Manchester
M30 8JD
Players to arrive at 09:00 am for a 9:30 start to the games.
Theme: Medieval 1330 AD – 1500 AD.

Round 3. 27th July 2025, at the Halifax Club venue:
Belgrave Social Club.

Players to arrive at 09:00am for a 09:30 start to the games.
Theme: Biblical Ancient and America, 3000 BC – 501 BC for non-American lists.
Any list from the America section of the lists is permitted, but no Europeans are allowed.

Round 4. 21st September 2025 at:

Theme: Dark Age/Feudal 494 AD – 1329 AD (No Heavy Knights or Foot Knights allowed).

Round 5. Sunday 2nd November 2025 at:

Players to arrive at 09:00am for a 09:30 start to the games.
Theme: Open (Any List)

The rules to be used will be ADLG V4 (2021). Figure scale will be 15mm. The theme for each round will be set by dates, you may use any appropriate army. Any ally used must also be permitted within the theme’s dates.
Each event will consist of 3 games of 2.25 - 2.5 hours. For the first round event the first game draw will be based on army dates, although nobody will be drawn against anyone from the same club. The second and third game draws will be done using the normal Swiss system. Scoring will be the standard method from the ADLG website and each event's results will be submitted for UK and International rankings.

First game draws for future rounds will be based on each player's current overall position, with the proviso that nobody will be drawn against anyone they played in the previous round.

There is no formal entry process and the fee may be paid on the day. However, if you wish to enter please send an Army List to Mick Hood (mh014c5606@gmail.com) at least two weeks before the event.
