I realize I've made an assumption about page 64 that might not be correct.
If, for example, defending LMI is right at the edge of a field, but half the unit is in the field and the other half is in open, would fully conformed Cv attacking the front edge be penalized?
(I realize most of the time the Cv could partially conform onto the half that is out of the field, but not in every circumstance.) |

If any part of the cavalry base is in the terrain they suffer the penalties. So yes |

Attacking CV don't have to conform. _________________ "Quand on a pas de technique, faut y aller à la zob"

I got this conflated with the ruling on when LI is "in open"...
Brings up an interesting example, if I've got it right.
Suppose it is LMI half in the open and half at the edge of field, attacked by HI spearmen (fully conformed). The spearmen have a combat factor of +1 but increased to +2 when attacking LMI in the open. I believe the front edge of the LMI not being entirely in the field means they are in the open. But then the spearmen are penalized by the field edge they are attacking for a -2, summing to 0.
When the LMI fight back in the next turn, the HI spearmen are no longer considered in the field and so fight at +2. |
