I realize I've made an assumption about page 64 that might not be correct.

If, for example, defending LMI is right at the edge of a field, but half the unit is in the field and the other half is in open, would fully conformed Cv attacking the front edge be penalized?

(I realize most of the time the Cv could partially conform onto the half that is out of the field, but not in every circumstance.)

If any part of the cavalry base is in the terrain they suffer the penalties. So yes

Attacking CV don't have to conform.
