List 109 Sassanid Persian
It's odd that the notes to this list refer to Khosrau I allying with the Turks to defeat the Huns, yet the list of allies under the list makes no reference to any Turkish allies! Wikipedia says this happened in 560 AD and was a major conflict. Allowing the Sassanids to also have Central Asian Turkish Allies #140 would fix this anomaly. Not world changing just a tidying up. |

Did they field any joint armies or just simultaneously campaign against a common enemy on different fronts? |

My knowledge of the period is limited to Wikipedia, and Osprey and WRG books. So I do not know. It just seemed anomalous to describe them as allies in the notes and then not find this as an option. |

Kevin's reply is a very valid one.
You could argue the same with regards to Sarmatians as allies to Eastern Middle Imperial Romans or even Avars as allies to the Sassanids or Khmer Empire and Chola allies.
There is little or no evidence to show that the armies actually fought together.
Having an ally 'on paper' is one thing - actually having them fight alongside your army on a battel field is another. _________________ 'He could have lived a risk-free, moneyed life, but he preferred to whittle away his fortune on warfare.' Xenophon, The Anabasis |
