A unit is in a position where it is on both rear and flank of an evade capable enemy. If it charges does the target treat it as a flank or rear charge for direction of evade? I see two possibilities - attackers choice or defenders choice. |

Won't the charger have to declare a direction of charge and therefore how it will contact the evader? Then we will know which way the evader goes. |

Direction of charge has to be declared. If it hits the rear edge its a rear charge, flank edge a flank charge. But the corner? |

It depends on the charging unit starting position. If any part of the charging unit is located, at the beginning of the move, in the "rear sector", determined by a line extending from the flank of the target, it is a rear contact, otherwise it a flank contact. _________________ "Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead"

Sorry, I'm not making my question clear.
Page 51, Types of contact. Unit E can charge either flank or rear. Does target evade (if evade capable) as a flank or rear charge? |

The target can align parallel to the charge. So the target determin the direction of esquive I think. _________________ Hasta la victoria Siempre!

Thats what I hoped. So target can choose whether to keep current facing or do quarter-turn. This can make a big difference in whether it gets away. |

My interpretation is:
Attacker declares charge. If he can choose flank or rear, he must choose at this moment.
This determines if target unit has to make 1/4 turn or not.
Additionally, target unit has the option to align parallel to the charge. |

Conforming the best direction to avoid a mortal ennemy contact seems to be a good reason to esquive..... _________________ "Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead"
