A unit of Heavy Spearmen is charged on the front by Heavy Cavalry (with Impact) and on the flank by a unit of Light Cavalry.
As per page 57, the Spearmen do not get impact because they are charged in the flank.
Does the Heavy Cavalry (charging the front) get impact?
My reading is that they would not, because the bullet point on pg 57 says:
Citation: | The unit [being attacked on the flank or rear] cannot cancel the abilities of enemies that are in melee against its flanks (e.g. troops with impact cancelling the javelin ability or spearmen cancelling the impact ability of mounted units). |
Since the unit the Heavy Spearmen is fighting are on the front, they do still cancel the impact of the Heavy Cavalry, but the Heavy Spearmen do lose their impact ability because they were attacked on the flank.
If so, the factors would be:
Heavy Spearmen:
+1 vs all
Impact cancelled (because of Light Cavalry on their flank)
Heavy Cavalry:
Impact cancelled (because charging the front of Heavy Spearmen)
+1 for Support (from Light cavalry)
Both units have net +1 factor.
Is this correct? |
