I would like to check the way the rules are interpreted for Groups containing mixed units, some or all of which are Impetuous, concentrating on what constitutes a 'Difficult' manoeuvre.

The rules state "if a group contains one or more unmanoeuverable units, the penalty in CP for performing a Difficult manoeuvre applies to the whole group" (and this also applies where these units are in charge range of the enemy).
This means that a group of impetuous units of mixed types (eg Impetuous knights and impetuous cavalry) will cost 2CP to move forwards, because the cavalry will not move their full distance, hence this becomes a 'Difficult' manoeuvre for the group.

However the FAQ states that an Impetuous group of knights only costs 1CP to wheel if the outside unit has moved its maximum distance (3UD). Presumably this is not considered 'Difficult' because the group is wheeling and so is deemed to have gone as far as it can

How many CP are required to move in the following cases?
  1. A group of Impetuous Knights and other non-impetuous cavalry that moves forwards 3UD.
Here I presume the cost is 1CP since the knights have moved maximum distance

  2. A group of Impetuous Knights flanked by non-impetuous cavalry that wheels, such that one of the Impetuous Knights has moved its maximum distance.
Here I presume again that it is only 1CP, since this is an extension of the FAQ example

  3. A group of Impetuous Knights and Impetuous cavalry (KKCC) that wheel with the Knights on the inside and the Cavalry on the outside, such that one Knight and one Cavalry move their maximum distances (if this is feasible)
Again 1CP since this is an extension of the FAQ example

  4. How much would it cost to move a group of Impetuous knights forwards 2U and then wheel the group 1U. Is it still only 1CP?

1) yes

2) yes

3) yes, but it's pretty difficult to wheel exactly the require distance.

4) yes, only 1 CP

The rules I think aim for simplicity and seek to avoid the excessive complications that grew out of the WRG cult of writing.
