|
Hi , My group and I are new to ADLG and right now our biggest problem is: how to base our miniatures/units?
I see a lot of events using 25mm scales and thus base units on 60mm frontage bases.
Could one of you please list how different units should be based for 25mm (We'll actually be using a mix of 25/28mm models, but want it all based for 25mm).
I'm not sure how deep the bases should be for the different Infantry and Cavalry units.
Thank you for your help! |

it is on page 7 of the rulebook, but here a brief summary:
LI : 6x3 cm & 2 figs
MI: 6x3 cm & 3 figs
HI: 6x2 cm & 4 figs (maybe 3 only if they're big as Warhammer's for example)
LH: 6x4 cm & 2 figs
Cv, Kn : 6x4 cm & 3 fig
Levies: 6x4 cm & 4-5 figs
Chariots (Cv or Kn), El, Art: 6x6x cm & 1 model
Warwagon: 6x12 cm & 1 model
camp: 6x12 mini and up to 18x24... _________________ Audentes fortuna iuvat. |

Using deeper bases is fine. When I rebased my Nikephorian byzantines I just put everything that wasn't a skirmisher on a 60x60 square.
And I have some A&A MIR legionaries that are really large. I put three of them on a 60x30 and they fill the base, so could have done the 60x60 thing with them with 6 figures per base.
As long as there is nothing ambiguous about it (a list that like Han chinese where the swordsmen could be either medium or heavy is an example), you really have a lot of flexibility. |

Thank you all!
I guess having the different options for basing is what's confusing, since the different base depths affect situations in combat differently.
I guess we'll just pick one way and give it a go. |

Hello,
here is an example of how we base minis in 25/28 scale for the two tournaments in France at those scales (and in Spain too).

Most of players have based their cavalry in a 6 cm deep, so do I with my crisaders KN

I note there is not a line in the tolerances for heavy infantry on 6x6cm squares. Is that really not allowed?
What about mixed troops? Would medium swordsmen/bowmen be ok on 6x6, but heavy swordsmen/bowmen need to be on 6x5? |

I would say it is allowed because the rules basically make all bases fight as if square. |

Yeah, I would say so also, but I was curious about their practice.
I certainly expect it to be ok because I have a lot of heavy foot on 60mm deep bases now
I see they have some elephants on square bases which is making me think about my elephants. I wonder if I can get them off their existing bases without too much grief? |

Hi,
In France there's 2 -for the moment- tournament with 25-28mm miniatures : ANTIKA and FRONTIKA. If you come -come, come my friend - you'l have no problem with square 60*60 mm bases.
see you soon _________________ Hasta la victoria Siempre!

In a similar vein, according to the rules (paragraph 2 page 8 ), players basing armies purely for LADG may base all the infantry except light infantry on 1 UD depth bases.
This makes for a nice looking line of battle but in 15mm scale would basing all cavalry including cavalry commanders in units on 40mm by 40mm bases be similarly allowed? |
