I am sure this has been asked before, but I cannot find it in the FAQ nor the rules.
For shooting purposes how far can units see in the various terrain features. For example can a bow unit within a forest shoot 4 MU at another unit in the same forest. What about the other combinations (bow out of forest, target in the forest, etc.)
This assumes no intervening troops, hills crests, etc. those rules I understand. |

p 48. Right column "Terrain cover..."
"separated by more than one UD of terrain that gives cover (in a wood for example) shooting is not possible."
Granted this is one I know exists but is always hard to find, when you need it. |

p 46: left column, last bullet, it is not possible to shoot at a non visible unit
p63 : visibility : some terrains block visibility and offer a cover. they cqn be detected if the ennemy come at 1 UD or less.
So if an unit is in a wood at 1 UD or more from the edge, it is non visible and cannot be targeted but cannot shoot itself.
If the unit is entirely in the wood but less than 1 UD from the edge, it is able to shoot outside.
I.E ; 1 UD of something blocking visibility is enough to block a ligne of sight. _________________ "Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead"

We never thought of looking for it under Protection Modifiers. I just added it to my index for the next time I need it. |
