ok ,so its the legion players turn ,and he charges with legion 2 cav B in the flank .cavalry uses 0 as base factor and looses all other abilities?and legion uses base factor +1for flank?
Batle commits in initial position and in the end of melee phase unit B will conform forntally to legion?
If units 2+B WERE CONTACTED SIDE BY SIDE would that change anything in the factors of melle ,will units 2 now flank contact ,would count as a conform and not a charge?

If the gap between 2 and A is not big enough for 1 to fit in, 2 gets displaced "the smallest distance possible" moving backwards slightly, so it would always be possible for 1 to charge A.
However, you should note that 2 must be able to conform correctly on B (corner to corner) in order to be a legal contact. This would leave 2 extending slightly to the rear of B, or up the picture towards A, a position very similar to the diagram before 1 moves.
In this case, 1 and 2 seem to be square, and if the gap between 2 and A is less than 1 UD, 2 will be displaced backwards by the initial charge of 1, giving insufficient space for it to conform legally on the flank of B.
Regarding a flank attack, you are correct that B turns to face 2 immediately after the initial round of mêlée (this was clarified in the FAQ).
If 2 and B are in flank-flank contact, 2 may conform for free attacking B on the flank. However this is not a charge, so 2 does not gain a bonus for Impact. Otherwise the factors for the initial melee are the same. |
