We had a situation in a recent game where a unit of HI spearman were attacked frontally by impetuous cavalry and in the flank by light infantry.

I understand that the light infantry cause the spearmen to loose their impact against the cavalry, but would this mean the cavalry would now count their impact on the spearmen?

if the HI was first contacted on his front, the LI can move to contact the flank. This does not suppress the basic combat factor of the HI but he looses his impact.

if the HI eliminate the Cav, the LI must immediately recoil since he will then be in open contact with a heavy unit.

Second part I s still unanswered.

If the spear loses its impact does the Impact Cav or Knights now get impact?

Flank attack cancel some abilities as per p57.
Spearman and pikemen still hold their spear/pike which cancelled impact of non elephant mounted.
They don't keep their own impact because of the flank attack.
So HI spear become like MI in this instant.

p 14 Heavy Spear.
They have two abilities in two sentences
1) they have impact versus mounted.
2) they cancel the impact of mounted.

p 57 the flank attack cancels impact. 1st bullet. Therefore #1 is cancelled not #2.
