See last point of Restrictions for Extension p31
My example: 3 Elephants in column
Restriction is, when moving sideways by up to its movement allowance, then with minus 1 UD = 2 UD
Sideways means: not temporarly overlap 2nd El during sideways movement?
The 3rd EL moving to the front rank, moves more than 2 UD so conflict with the movement restriction as mentioned above?
Just do not understand this point, can someone explain pls? |

Movement -1UD is sideways only distance restriction.
The diagonal distance is more or less the normal move distance.
Instead of measuring it each time we have a summary table to use, hopefully making our life or memory easier. _________________ Player 747 don't call me Jumbo |

...It does not say that the sideways movement itself is restricted to 1 UD but that a "unit moving to front rank can only move sideways by up to its movement allowance [..] minus 1 UD."
In case of El is 2 UD (max. allowance 3 UD less the fix minus 1 UD)...? But why such restriction, I cannot immagine a situation where such a sideways move is needed, do you? |

If two elephants move to same side it stops a third doing so.
Maybe we could have done with just the table, without explanation of how it was made?
What about a block 6 wide two deep (OK MI would be better troop type to imagine ) . Where do middle two in rear rank end up? We have this restriction to limit excessive movement ? _________________ Player 747 don't call me Jumbo |
