Following the rout of a unit two opposing units are in side edge to side edge contact.

Does the active player have a choice of conforming or charging?

Or can he only conform (or not)?

Only the active player can conform.
So, if pursuing player end is pursuit side to side, the defending will able to conform on flanc when beacame the active player.

I was talking about the turn following the rout/pursuit. I thought the reference to a possible charge would have made that obvious, but clearly not Embarassed

So does the active player have the choice between charging and conforming?
