Evenin' all
A flank or rear charge explicitly cancels any missile support for a charged unit, which seems logical. (Top of P57)
Missile support is defined on P18 as:
1) Paid for as extra with the unit
2) Med swordsmen with bow
3) Mixed units.
Just below that bowmen and crossbowmen are excluded from the missile support rule on account of their +1 first round bonus.
So if a bow unit is attacked in the flank by a non-light unit it seemingly loses nothing (as it's basic factor is 0 anyway), but a swordsman/bow unit will lose it's basic factor of +1 and it's missile support of +1.
Is that what the rules dictate, and if it is, should it be?
Cheers

Yes that is the rule. Presumably the swordsmen factor reflects a charge/counter-charge, so when hit in the flank they are standing still like bowmen.
A friend of mine who does re-enactment has commented that a group tends to look at their front only, and not see to their side. |

If charged in the flank the bow lose their +1 in 1st round vs mounted and the attackers get a +1 for the flank attack so the bow are not looking good even before the attacker adds in their combat factor. |
