|
I need to rebase my Byzantine skutatoi, mixed heavy spear and bowman. What depth are they?
Heavy infantry 2x 15mm = 30mm
Heavy spear plus medium bowman =35mm
ps unfortunately non of my credit bases cone to 35mm |

Medium units are always assumed to be 40x40mm, while HI are 40x30mm deep. The use of a “different sized†half base of bow to designate a mixed HI unit is fine.
Use the same logic as for Pikes (or any other outsized unit); where there is some in-game question, simply replace the unit with the correct sized marker to resolve the question; in this case, a 40x 30mm marker. |

Ok, but since I will rebase I am happy to use the proper size, once i know what it is
So it is 40mm x 30mn, 2 heavy infantry? |

If rebasing figures or building a new army, is there any reason why all 15mm figures shouldn’t be on 40x40mm bases (except perhaps for LF which might look a bit strange)? |

Yes, to distinguish between heavy and medium foot.
The current set up is prettier. (aka more aesthetically pleasing)
Also, I've played against armies that were all on 40x40 bases - it was a real pain having to keep adjusting for the notional size of the base. Eg for move distances, evades, damage from routs, etc.

Wait they played on 40x40 but wanted units to be only say 30mm deep for some purposes? |
