In Friday night's game my opponent’s HF swordsmen charged my Impetuous HC there seemed to be no penalty for foot charging mounted unless they are spearmen. Is this correct? |

Not directly in terms of factors but if the HI charge the mounted these can then break off in their round to recover lost cohesion or simply to have another go with impact and furious charge. If the mounted charge first, they have to endure two rounds of combat before they can break off. |

In the circumstances described there is no penalty. Except perhaps the rout of the HSwd
It makes sense in situations where the HI has the advantage (such as supports or a flanking unit) because the cavalry don't have to charge them. _________________ Putting the ink into incompetence |

In this case no. But if the opponent was say HC Bow it would matter. If HC Bow charge HF Swordsmen Impetuous/Impact the HF get +1 in the first round for impact. They do not get this if they charge. |
