A group consisting of a Heavy Cavalry and a Light Cavalry wish to charge an enemy Heavy Cavalry which is not disordered. The light Cavalry is not impact and so cannot normally charge this enemy.
The units are aligned such that the two heavy cavalry units are mutually ZOCed and facing each other so that when the group charges the two HC units will fight each other and Light Cavalry will only contact the enemy HC corner to corner.
May it charge under this circumstance? |

Yes,Â
P50 defines several key aspects including “charge†“main unit†and “supportâ€, which are then subsequently used elsewhere in contact restrictions  p52.Â
In your example, the LC are are not ‘charging’ as they are not the main unit making contact with the HC, rather they are a “supportâ€, so the contact restrictions do not apply in this case. |

So a unit which cannot normally contact an enemy is allowed to charge if it will end up a support rather than as a unit in melee.
Makes sense to me - thank you. |

Correct : this situation was clarified by the first amendements to the rule ( 31/05/17) but only for the LI. This amendment should have dealt also with other contact restrictions described page 52 but unfortunatly that was forgotten. It is clear that the same principle applies for LH. _________________ patrick lefebvre
