The rules (p 35) state that ZOC is less than 1 UD.
The play chart says 1 UD.
Which is correct?
This is important to the spontaneous charge which applies when in ZOC. If ZOC is less than 1 UD, then this is a change from V3, where a spontaneous charge was allowed at 1 UD. |

They are both true. The ZOC extends 1BW from the front edge of the model. However, to be in someone's ZOC, you need to be within 1BW.
As you point out, the spontaneous charge distance has changed in V4.

The definition of Zone control is on page 35 and the rule says; '' A unit is in an enemy unit's zone of control (ZOC) if it is directly in front of an enemy and LESS THAN ONE UD from the enemy front edge.'' The area of EXACTLY one UD is not in the ZOC (read it in the same passage, on page 35). |
