This is a rather free form question. Basically is the following right, and is there anything you can add, correct, disagree with, etc.
The "slide and rotate" of conformance is just an awkward translation choice and has nothing to do with the 1UD slide that is a Manoeuvre (heh, heh, heh the forum likes Yank spelling! ). Once a unit makes contact, you slide along the face of the enemy, maintaining rotation, but displacing, possibly in a retrograde direction, until you are corner to corner and then you wheel flush but we will call it rotate. The prohibitions on wheeling more than 90 degrees total, or not sliding twice, etc etc are all ignored. When you can't completely conform you must make judgement calls on the greatest conformance for the greatest numbers... |

Ta ta ta ta ta ta touch me, I wanna feel dirty!
P.50 Conformation after a charge. Sliding and “pivoting†(not rotating) are simply descriptions of the kinds of moves a charging unit may have to do to neatly line up (conform) against an enemy corner to corner. |

Both the text and the illustration at the bottom of page 50 say slide first then pivot/rotate - which is not a legal manoeuvre as you cannot make a lateral slide. And any charge that starts with a slide would be making a second slide in conformance. I don't see how you get there without separating Conformance from the Movement rules. |

Conforming is conforming! Its a specific mechanism to make combats between two lined up opponents. Without this combats could get very complicated. No need to over think it. |

Absolutely Alan.
Do not confuse MOVEMENT sliding, wheeling. expansion etc with CONFORMATION manoeuvres. Movement is restricted by in-game situations, while Conformation is purely a game mechanic to line up opposing units. |
