| It appears that you can replace up to two elephants with elephant artillery mediocre from 600-1500 CE, or use the ballistas separately as light artillery 1100-1500 CE. Just seems a little odd to me. Can anyone confirm? |

I had always read it as both options (arty on ground and arty on elephants) were only available after 1100 AD. However, looking at it again you seem to be right. I don’t think this is what was intended. |

Since the two lines are merged, it seems that after 1100 you can have light artillery, and can mount them on elephants.
