Simple question this time
Would impetuous infantry have to/not have to charge a enemy unit across a gully if they end partially in the gully at the end of the charge move and are then
at a disadvantage in melee (even though the bonus melee factor goes to the enemy unit as a +1 ) ?
I'm looking at the last bullet point right hand column on p46 |

As you point out, the gully provides a bonus to the opposing side. Assuming that the impetuous infantry are of the medium variety, they would therefore be subject to uncontrolled charge.

Right. The prevailing interpretation is giving a bonus to your enemy does not count as you being penalized so you will charge out of gullies or uphills, etc.
However, if the impetuously charging unit is HI it would suffer a penalty for rough terrain and thus not be forced to make an impetuous charge. |

If you are only concerned about the rough and not trying to get the outside bonus, then rough is rough is rough for the effect on impetuous troops where applicable. |
