Suppose there is a unit (A) has an enemy (X) in front of it (at less than one UD so they ZOC each other) and another enemy (Y) that it is front corner to front corner against.

__YY
XXYY

(1) What happens if A charges X and X evades? Does A pursue X or conform into contact with Y or does it have a choice? Does it matter if A is impetuous?
(2) If A can confirm into contact with Y this would be a non-charge contact, right? |

Generally speaking it's not a good idea to ask more than one question in a sentence. Mostly because it leads to Lionel giving one of his trademark one word answers
(1) A slides down the flank of Y during its charge. If X evades and A chooses to remain in contact with Y no conformation/combat will occur - the option to conform with and fight Y only happens if A doesn't charge (see page 51 "Conforming units already in contact" 2nd paragraph). If A is impetuous it cannot voluntarily stop short to remain in contact with the flank of Y.
(2) A can't conform to Y because it's in X's ZoC. If A was not in X's ZoC it would have the choice of conforming to Y or charging X. No charge factors apply with this kind of conformation because it's a continuation of an earlier fight.

Thanks, Dave. Very helpful!
However, if A did not start in contact with X but did start in Y’s ZOC (and Y was the most threatening enemy) and A charges Y who evades and during its charge A now touches X, A would conform to X as soon as this contact occurs (assuming X does not also elect to flee). Is this correct? |

I'm with Lionel. A has charged, but has not ended in melee or out of contact with X and thus has not "resolved" the situation. So must A conform now? |
