What if lancers Mc/HC Impact or Impetuous) armed with bows, but who were noted to make only limited use of the latter or whose bows or archery were described as ‘Weak”, such as Tibetans, Sarmatians, 16 Kingdoms/Northern Dynasties Chinese (including Xiongnu and Xienbei) and maybe nomads like Khazar or Bulgar nobles or Khitans were allowed to be HC/MC Impact or Impetuous 1/2 Bw? Was their effect similar to Byzantine or Jurchen formations of mixed lancers and and armored horse archers?

Part of the problem here is that HC/MC Impact is IMO a weak troop type. HC/MC Impact 1/2 Bow IMO is quite worthwhile - because it can evade more than because it can shoot. The solution is to let impact cavalry evade not make more 1/2 bow.

The impetuous troops have tended to work better, they are cheaper and often IMO found in armies that support them better, tending to be larger armies with lots of less expensive troops. The combo of impetuous cavalry and impetuous Hvy Sw is a good one.
