I've just noticed, that War Wagons, Blades are either very cheap or exceedingly good value, depending upon which way you want to look at it.
An 'ordinary' War Wagon, bow/crossbow/firearm comes in at 12pts
A 'mediocre' War Wagon, bow/crossbow/firearm comes in at 8pts (not quite sure why it gets a 4pt deduction - as it still only shoots once per turn? - although it is self supporting I suppose?)
An 'ordinary' War Wagon, blade comes in at 8 pts as well (again, not quite sure of the justification on this ... interested to understand why?).
So would a 'mediocre' War Wagon, blade come in at 6pts (if one was to exist in the lists)?
And a War Wagon with no missile capability - again not an unrealistic option historically - come in at just 4pts?
Thanks

I though WWG with Bd have no missile capability. |

Mediocre war wagon cannot be battle ready which means they are both a 0 and mediocre to foot. Which makes them very vulnerable. Being unable to outrun and out fight enemy is a problem.
WWG w blades cannot shoot.
WWG are very handy if they face cavalry on their long edge. I have seen them be utterly pointless as well. They are highly situational.
One thing is clear, they are not hopping panzers of DBM which had historically ridiculous abilities. I feel right now they are pretty right from a historical perspective and do not harm the game, but provide the occasional interesting dilemma or advantage. |

I totally agree re the DBM approach & have 'fought' against it for years.
The v.4 approach is an admirable solution to the difficult depiction challenges on the table top.
I'd forgotten the 'cannot be battle ready' issues around WWg blades, so that makes complete sense.
My reasoning for the question will become apparent with my next list submission. It is how to best represent the wheeled man powered fighting platforms in the Khmer army. Having looked at all the alternatives i just keep homing back to a WWG designation, but with no missile capability (maybe mediocre - but that might be a bit harsh).
Thanks
