|
Enemy unit is routed by elephant death star. Elephant must pursue, so takes supports with it.
The supporting unit contacts an enemy Light infantry base. This LI base is only 10mm or so further back than the front edge of the routed unit.
The sequence is quite clear. The supporting unit conforms, taking the elephant with it. The Light infantry base then evades. All quite straightforward and uncomplicated.
However, what happens next?
1) Pursuit has ended when conformation is completed?
2) Pursuit must continue (because of the elephant) until it has moved a whole 1 UD?
3) The supporting unit stops once confirmation is completed, but the elephant must continue the full 1 UD, in effect splitting up the group?
Page 69 left hand column under Contacting new enemies is the relevant section.
2nd bullet point suggests to me that it must continue the full 1 UD if it is elephants or impetuous and optional for others, but with no variable movement roll ie option 2
Counter argument is that for the sake of consistency with other parts of the conformation process which stop forward movement when conformation is completed, the pursuit is complete at that point ie option 1

Page 69 is clear that you conform and then the enemy might evade. Which might be an error, given that the charge procedure calls for evasion first (and therefore no conformance).
Regardless, it seems best to treat the pursuers as a group, who must advance together 1UD if clear. |
