|
Page 19 has a really clear picture showing which units are panicked by being in contact with an elephant in melee, even if that contact is only on a corner to corner basis.
Page 60, Support, additional points states:
"Panic caused by camels or elephants does not effect simple or melee support. Only units in melee with an enemy are affected by Panic from contact with camels or elephants, even if that contact is only by a single corner."
I can see that it makes sense that supporting enemy overlaps are not panicked.
However, does this point mean that in a situation where a line of 3 units of enemy cavalry, already engaged in melee to their front, has the middle cavalry unit hit in the rear by a unit of hostile Light camels. So the the Light camels are acting as a melee support to the friendly unit fighting the middle cavalry unit frontally, but are also in corner to corner contact with the rear corners of both the other two enemy cavalry on either side, that none of the enemy cavalry units in contact with the camels are panicked? As not are actually in melee with the camels?
Or am I misreading this completely?
Thanks
Mark

Mark, all units that are in melee are 'panicked'. In your case, there are three melees, and the arrival of the light camels to their rear would cause panic to those cavalry already in melee.
In the same way, a Death star containing an elephant sandwiched between two MI would cause three units of cavalry to panic should they charge the death star frontally, though the cavalry would still retain any special abilities |

Great to have that confirmed. Thankyou Ramses.
In the same scenario, if the 3 cavalry were fighting enemy cavalry to their front & the camels hit their rear.
Am I correct in assuming that only the cavalry hit in the rear would be panicked, not the cavalry they were fighting to their front?

Yup. To cause panic, the camels / nellies must be in contact with the horses (of either side).Â
So if these ‘smelly’ beasts provide simple support on the front, or melee support by contacting the flank, then all horses (of both sides) are panicked. |
