CONFORMATION QUESTION:
If two opposing units are in rear corner to rear corner contact only (from pursuits after melee wins in this case for both units) do they have to conform.
In other words the unit whose turn it is does it turn 180 and conform on the rear of the enemy unit if it does not move in some other way. |

IIUC it would simply be aligned with the enemy's rear or flank as eligible, provided it doesn't move else where (or in another ZOC, etc) |

I has this exact situation arise about 8 weeks ago. Our conclusion at the time was that yes, the phasing player was entitled to do a half turn and conform to the rear edge of the enemy unit.
This counts as continuation of previous melees (albeit that these two units were NOT previously fighting each other) and NOT as a new charge. Thus the phasing unit will count +1 for fighting the enemy’s rear edge. |

The diagram on p41 is useful here. Essentially the phasing unit is in the quadrant both to the flank and rear of the enemy, where unit E is situated (though facing down the page).
Consequently, I agree Zoltan that the phasing player could make a half turn and conform on the rear, but he could also choose to turn and conform on the flank. |
