A Medium knight is in front edge melee with Samurai Hvy foot. Then a mounted Samurai off the front left hand side of the knight but not behind the flank charges the knight to make contact it first has to wheel. The angle of the mount Samurai's charges means its front corner contacts the knight's base a bit over haft way down the side of the base. Does
1. The mounted Samurai conform so it is in front corner to corner contact with the knight.
2. The mounted Samurai conforms to side to side contact with the knight.

Both cases are simple support.

A unit can not “charge” an enemy that is already in melee with a friend. The unit may “move” into a simple support position using the movement rules. This can include wheel, move, wheel etc.

I think both 1 and 2 in your example are probably valid conformations. Just depends on where you prefer the mounted Samurai to end up i.e. behind the knight’s flank or not. There are pros and cons for each case.

Both conformation options are okay

Option 2 is probably best if you think the HI will last as the HC will be able to conform into melee support next turn
