“THE ART OF WAR” TOURNAMENT IN THE ALJARAFE REGION (SEVILLE)

GENERAL INFORMATION

Date: Saturday, November 30, and Sunday, December 1, 2024.
Location: Casa de la Juventud de Gines (Youth Center of Gines), C/ Fray Ramón de Gines, 11, a, 41960 Gines, Sevilla.
TOURNAMENT RULES:

Scale: Armies with 15mm miniatures will be played, following the official rules for this scale. The miniatures must accurately represent the assigned troop type, and the army must be fully painted.
Version: The V4 “Art De La Guerre” rules will be applied, including the latest official publication and any clarifications and amendments from recent FAQs. This information can be found on the ADLG - Art De La Guerre website.
Scoring: Players will be ranked based on victory points as indicated in the downloadable Excel sheet on the official game website.
Duration: Matches will last 2 hours and 30 minutes, with a minimum of 7 turns per player. The first 2 hours of play will be announced, and at 2 hours and 00 minutes, players will begin blitz turns if necessary. Players will ensure that a match does not exceed the stipulated time. The referee reserves the right to end the game as it stands at 2 hours and 30 minutes.
BLITZ TURN for each player will follow this format:
3 timed minutes for movements.
Resolution of shooting and combat.
Theme: “The Splendor of Byzantium.” Europe, Africa, and the Middle East from 493 AD to 1096 AD.
Allowed Armies: Armies from the reign of Justinian to the First Crusade are permitted.
The following lists are allowed:
75, 96, 97, 99 (Picts), 100, 108, 109, 110 (Sabirs), 111 to 114, 124 to 167, 179 to 182, 184, 185, 187 to 195, 199 to 205, 209 to 211, 213 to 218.
Lists may not exceed 200 points according to the V4 version of the L’Art de la Guerre rules, including their allies. Both the main list and the ally must belong to the specified period (493 AD to 1096 AD).
Rounds: Three rounds will be played on Saturday and two on Sunday morning. Whenever possible, players from the same club will avoid facing each other. The initial pairing will be random, and subsequent pairings will follow the Swiss system, avoiding matches between players who have already played against each other.

Registration: Final inclusion in the tournament must meet the following two requirements within the indicated deadlines:
1: Payment of the registration fee. Only players who make the payment within the specified period will be included in the tournament. Registration opens on September 15, 2024. The deadline is October 21, 2024 (23:59).
2: Submission of lists. Must be sent to strategiturdetani@gmail.com before November 15, 2024, at 23:59.
We will communicate the registration fee once we have a better estimate of the number of participants.
Slots: The number of slots is 26 (we cannot guarantee venue availability for more slots, although we will try).

Accepted armies: Lists of no more than 200 points are allowed according to the V4 version of the L’Art de la Guerre rules, as already mentioned with their allies. Both the main list and the ally must belong to the indicated period (493 AD to 1096 AD).
In the list submitted to the organization, the year of the list and in which command the CinC is must be clearly indicated. If there is an allied contingent, it must be valid in the same year indicated in the main list.
Deployment rules: In the deployment, the command being deployed must be clearly identified. For this, the organization will provide tokens with the corresponding numbers (I, II, III). The arrangement of the deployed and identified commands on the table must match what the player has noted in their battle plan. The referee may require the battle plan from any player to verify that the deployment is correct. If a command is not deployed according to said plan, it will be removed from the table, and its elements will count as casualties (destroyed).
If there are units poorly ambushed or that cannot be deployed, it will be understood that they have fled. They will not count as casualties but will be deducted from the army’s cohesion value as indicated on page 77 of the rules.
Rounds: Three will be played on Saturday and two on Sunday morning, avoiding as much as possible the crossing between players from the same club. The first pairing will be random. The rest of the pairings will be with the Swiss system, avoiding crossings with players who have already played against each other.
Food: The organization will look for a place for lunch on Saturday. The cost of this meal will be included in the registration fee.
