Salutations,
Noted that 3rd edition LAdlG had option to put '28mm - 32mm' figures on 80mm wide bases - this is left out of 4th edition. Did anyone ever use the wider bases ? Thoughts ? _________________ As Governor Romney said about the Winter Olympics...

I'm sure someone out there did but the vast majority of players simply went with the "60mm wide bases, using a few less figures where you can't squeeze the right number of chubby ones in" option, and that has been the default for all competitions as well.
Frankly the 80mm extra-choice thing was more confusing than helpful, so it's probably for the best it's been dropped from the v4 text. You can still base however you want I guess, and heck, knowing 'wargamers'... I'd bet "someone" out there is using inches, sumerian cubits or a measuring system of their own invention based on the length of their favourite finger, but for a default its 60mm + a few less figures if you have an issue with big models _________________ www.madaxeman.com |

The width of the bases is paramount and must be consistent throughout all scales in order for the melee factors to be worked out correctly.Â
In V3 you were explicitly allowed to use bases with a greater depth, while in V4 this is discouraged. However, players may always substitute a correctly sized marker to resolve questions over visibility, ZoC, units affected by rout etc. |

The latter is not so. There's no essential textural difference between V3 & V4 with regard to the depth of bases. _________________ Martin Stephenson |
